Madwaleni hospital

URGENT:  DOCTORS REQUIRED IN 2012!
SEE RECRUITMENT PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION

The Eastern Cape Department of Health's Madwaleni hospital and its eight feeder clinics are located on the beautiful Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape, South Africa in an area that remains deeply rural.

The hospital and its clinics are an inspiring example of how the community and a team of dedicated staff and supporters can work together towards improving the healthcare of the impoverished people who live here.

We are most proud of the following successes over the last few years:

  • the increase in doctor and allied health capacity of the hospital
  • the development of a model HIV wellness and ARV programme
  • the birth and growth of an inspiring rehabilitation department
  • the building and renovation of community health education centres at our primary health care clinics
  • our partnership with the Department of Social Development to provide support services for our orphans and vulnerable children
  • our ability to now provide home based care to our chronically ill or palliative stable patients
  • the establishment of a site for medical students as part of formal undergraduate curriculum
