The hospital is marked on Google maps even though the road we are on is not yet marked. We can be found at:

The nearest airport is Mthatha (also spelt Umtata) which has daily flights to and from Johannesberg. Mthatha is 100 km and about 90 minutes drive from Madwaleni.

East London airport has more flights connecting with international flights and is about 4 hours drive from Madwaleni.

From East London:

Take the N2 towards Mthatha (Umtata). 20 km before you get to Mthatha there is a turn-off to the right, signposted for Coffee Bay, turn right here.

Follow this road for approximately 15km. You will reach a small town called Mqanduli. Continue through and past Mqanduli for another 8km until you see PHUMLANI CASH AND CARRY on the right hand side. There will be a road to the RIGHT, signposted for Madwaleni Hospital, turn right here. After another 16km you will pass through another small town called Elliotdale (Xhora). Go straight through Elliotdale, at the top of the hill there will be a turn off to the left signposted for Madwaleni, turn left here (If you reach dirt road without turning you have missed the turn-off). After turning you will be on a gravel road. Continue on this road for +- 16km where the road will change to tar. Follow the tar road for another 14 km until you see the hospital on the left.

From Mthatha:

Take the N2 towards East London, after 20km there is a turn-off to the left signposted for Coffee Bay. Turn left here and follow the instructions above.
