What to bring

This very much depends on who you are, how long you are planning to stay and where you will be staying.

Staff/students
The work dress code is fairly casual (collared shirts/t-shirts, long pants or skirts). It can be hot, wet and dirty at times so bring clothes accordingly.
Gum boots (Wellington's) are a good idea in summer.
Head torch to get around at night.
Cell phone is essential (Madwaleni has good cell phone reception).
Laptop is desirable (with capacity to link to the internet through your cell phone/internet card).
Sports equipment: running shoes, surf boards, mountain bikes, tennis rackets, fishing rods etc.
Bedding is required in the form of sheets, duvet, pillows.
Some pots, pans and crockery are always useful (although most of the houses have a base set from previous occupants)
All houses have some fridge and freezer space so bring food accordingly.
While the majority of the houses have DSTV this is reliant on someone in your house having a television. Those that don't have DSTV have access in the recreation unit.
Madwaleni is not in a malaria area but we do have mosquitoes in summer that will disturb your sleep so buy a plug in mosquito repellent or net.

Visitors
This depends on your accommodation option but practical clothes and footwear are essential.
